Update from
Samoa 30 October 2009 Talofa to all our Friends! We continue to receive a tremendous outpouring of support from our Returning Nuts family, and for that we are so thankful. Many have asked how they can personally help, so we have included some information below as to how you can become involved. Now, for some good news. We have opened a temporary office in Apia. You may reach our staff by emailing them at reservations@coconuts.ws. We are on track to re-open Coconuts Beach Club on 1 February 2010. Our redevelopment plans are in full stride. At this time, we are unsure as to exactly what facilities we will have open and operational at our re-launch date, but we are planning on re-opening our Treehouse Suites and Coco Suites. Since we will have much work to do to return Coconuts to its full glory, we will be offering some great specials for those guests hoping to visit us in early 2010. The story of Coconuts is a great one. For those who have not yet read it, please click here to read more. From the very humble beginnings as a 3-stool bar on the beach, to an iconic Samoan resort, Coconuts is a story of inspiration, determination, and inventiveness – Samoan-style. Our redelopment and reopening will be another chapter in the Coconuts story. While our beginnings were very humble, we expect our re-launch to be slightly more advanced this time round! We can guarantee this: Coconuts will have the same charm and appeal that draws returning guests back year after year after year. Again, we thank all of you who have reached out to us, and we simply can’t wait to see you all very soon at Coconuts. Fa’afetai –
There has been a tremendous outpouring of support from the Coconuts Beach Club Returning Nuts community. We are so very appreciative of your thoughts, prayers, and concern. While Coconuts is busy rebuilding our Resort, we also want to reach out to the many local Samoans who may have been affected by this tragedy. There has already been a huge outpouring of financial support to some of the villages, to assist in cleanup & rebuilding efforts. Thankfully, our local village of Maninoa was not terribly affected by the tsunami, as they suffered damage only to the coastal parts of the village. We thought that there was no better community to assist us than our very own Returning Nuts family. As such, we are starting a fund to assist our many neighbors, friends, and families. It is our hope that this Fund can accomplish two things: help Maninoa with any immediate short-term needs to rebuild any losses from the tsunami; and, create a Maninoa Education Fund to help village families cover the costs of school tuitions, school uniforms, and local school supplies. We are sure you will agree with us that a long-term commitment to Education will most benefit our friends in Maninoa. If you are able to make a donation towards our Fund, we would like to thank you by making the following promises: all funds will be committed to helping our neighboring village of Maninoa; we will rebuild Coconuts so that it is better than ever; and, we will be ready for you, with a welcoming smile, when you are ready to return to Coconuts. If you wish to make a donation:
Again, we thank you all for your warm thoughts and
prayers during this challenging time. Coconuts will be back, and we
simply can’t wait to see you again, very soon.
